What is NYSC Redeployment?
NYSC redeployment/relocation is the official transfer of a corps member from the state of orientation camp, current state of deployment or their original Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) to another state. However, the approval of your application is on the following grounds.
Eligibility Criteria for NYSC Relocation
Health/Medical challenge
This category applies to corps members who suffer from severe or recurring illnesses that require close medical attention. You must provide a medical report from your institution’s medical centre or a recognised government hospital.
Example: A corps member with asthma posted to a dusty or cold region can request relocation to a more suitable environment.
Security Concerns
If NYSC posts you to a state facing insecurity, insurgency, or unrest, you can request relocation. NYSC prioritises your safety and often considers such requests seriously.
To apply under this category, you should provide:

- Supporting letters from family members or local authorities (if available)
Marital Ground
This category mainly applies to married female corps members who want to stay close to their husbands or family. If you fall into this category, submit a written application after the swearing-in ceremony explaining your reason for relocation.
The application letter should be addressed to the Director-General through the State Coordinator.
Since you are applying on marital ground, you are to attach the following:
- A valid marriage certificate
- A document showing change of name (such as National Newspapers and Affidavit)
- A letter from your husband’s workplace which will serve as an evidence in the state you want to relocate to.
- Proof of husband’s place of residence (utility bill, tenancy agreement, or similar document)

How to Apply for NYSC Redeployment
You can request Redeployment while still in camp during the 3 weeks orientation OR online after camp. Here’s how the both methods work:
Option 1: Applying In Camp
- During orientation, visit the Relocation / Redeployment Desk
- Request and complete the Redeployment form carefully
- Attach supporting documents
- Submit your application for processing
